Dinner Money and Snack Money

School dinner money is now paid via sQuid. Please see the relevant letter sent home to set up your account. If your child would like to change from sandwiches to school dinners or vice versa, please give the school a week’s notice.

Children are provided with a fruit snack at a cost of 20p/day. For ease of administration we ask that they commit to a week’s worth for £1.00.We doesn’t allow pupils to have unhealthy snacks such as crisps, biscuits and chocolate during their morning break.

In class each child has been provided with a school pen, pencil and ruler. Children are to write in black ink. They will be using blue, green and purple pens for marking and evaluating each other’s work (which will be provided by the school). There is also a stationery area in the class, which contains rubbers, sharpeners, rulers, coloured pens and pencils. Your child is very welcome to bring in a pencil case with their own equipment.

Homework is a way of enhancing the three way relationship between the teacher, the parents and most importantly the child. Please feel free to comment at the bottom of each homework sheet to let me know how your child is coping. Homework will be sent out every Friday and should be returned to school the following Wednesday. Please could your child make every effort to return the homework on the correct day. You can find the homework on our school website. Have a look!

Spellings will be tested on a Friday

P.E is on a Monday afternoon. It is essential your child has a suitable kit to change into for these sessions. Children are encouraged to leave their P.E kits in school during each half term and take them home to wash during each school holiday. This will ensure kits are always available in school when extra sessions become available. Please provide suitable shorts, t-shirt & trainers for this session. (Football kits are not appropriate)

Reading Books

We operate a class book lending system. Children are encouraged to select appropriate reading books to take home. These can be returned to school to change on a Tuesday. Try and use our online reading scheme Bug Club!

Thursdays Afternoon

Our P.P.A time is on a Friday afternoon. During these sessions the children will experience the following activities on a four week rota: Forest Schools, Music, Art, PE and ICT

Research has shown that children concentrate better if they have plenty to drink. In addition to your child’s lunchtime drink, please could your child bring an extra bottle of water (labelled with their name) to school each day. These bottles will be accessible to your child throughout the day and will be returned home at the end of each day for re-use.

Lateness and Absences

It would benefit your child if they could arrive punctually in the morning as the first part of every session provides much of the basis for the rest of the day’s work. If your child is not able to come to school we would be grateful if you could inform us by either letting us know personally, in writing or by telephoning the school secretary. If you intend to take a holiday during school time, permission must be sought from the Head teacher.

Our aim is to ensure your child is happy in school, foster a love of learning and promote healthy, happy relationships within a safe environment. We set high expectations for all the children and I hope it will be a wonderful year for them, one in which they will work hard, play hard and be the best they can be. We have an open door policy, so if you have any concerns or questions please don’t hesitate to see us at the end of the day, or arrange an appointment.

Many thanks in advance for your support and co-operation.

I’m sure we are going to have a fantastic year!
