On behalf of myself as the Headteacher, the governors, staff and pupils of Bishopston Primary I would like to welcome you to our school.

Our motto is “to care for one another and be the best that we can be”, it underpins our commitment and dedication to achieving excellence in all areas of school life. We firmly believe that the basis of being the best we can be is a caring and supportive environment. The two are intrinsically linked.

We place great emphasis on developing a strong partnership between home and school; it is through working together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support that we can provide what is best for our children.

We are proud of our caring, happy and friendly school ethos and the achievement of our pupils in a whole variety of fields. All the staff at Bishopston Primary are fully committed to building your child’s confidence and preparing them for a lifelong journey of discovery and learning.

Bishopston Primary places a strong emphasis on the Pupils’ Voice – we do our best to empower them to move the school forward. As facilitators we nurture and guide, always encouraging the pupils to be the best that they can be.

Everything we do with children in our care is based around these 4 purposes.  We are working to educate and support your children to become:

‘The school is a happy and very inclusive community, which nurtures and celebrates pupils’ achievements. Nearly all pupils behave well and are very friendly and polite. Pupils enjoy coming to school and feel that the staff give them beneficial support. Pupils make purposeful progress from their starting points, including those with special educational needs. Teachers develop a strong working relationship with pupils and give them interesting activities to undertake.

The headteacher’s effective leadership sets a clear direction for the school. Members of staff work well together and this ensures that the school’s provision has a positive impact on pupils’ progress and wellbeing. The governing body has a thorough understanding of the school’s performance and this enables it to challenge the school successfully.’
