Dinner Money

Dinner Money is no longer collected in class but SQUID accounts have been set up for parents to pay online. An online register will be taken daily so the kitchen knows how many children will have cooked lunch – and whose accounts money will be taken from.

Fruit can be paid for weekly or half-termly or termly (the cost is 20p per day. The total cost depends on the number of weeks in the half-term/term).  Children are welcome to bring their own fruit from home if they prefer.

Please ensure you child has a water bottle every day as well as a drink in their packed lunch.

In class each child has been provided with a school pen, pencil and ruler. Children are to write in pencil and then black ink when they earn their pen licence. They will be using green pens for uplevelling work and purple pens for marking and evaluating each other’s work (which will be provided by the school). There is also a stationery area in the class, which contains rubbers, sharpeners, rulers, coloured pens and pencils. Your child is very welcome to bring in a pencil case with their own equipment, as this would be helpful in reducing school costs.

Homework is a way of enhancing the three way relationship between the teacher, the parents and most importantly the child. Please feel free to comment at the bottom of each homework sheet to let me know how your child is coping. Homework will be sent out every Friday and should be returned to school the following Wednesday. Please could your child make every effort to return the homework on the correct day.

P.E is on a Wednesday. It is essential your child has a suitable kit to change into for these sessions. Children are encouraged to leave their P.E kits in school during each half term and take them home to wash during each school holiday. This will ensure kits are always available in school when extra sessions become available. Please provide suitable shorts, t-shirt & trainers for this session. (Football kits are not appropriate)

Reading Books

Children can choose to bring a book home from our class collection but more popular now is the opportunity to select a range of books from Book Bug – an online selection of books with relevant activities. Children have their own password and are able to access book online.

Thursdays Afternoon

• Our P.P.A time is on a Thursday afternoon. During these sessions the children will experience the following activities on a four week rota: Forest Schools, Music, Art, PE and Drama.

Educational visits and visitors

During the year we shall be planning educational visits and having visitors into school. We shall be asking for voluntary contributions to cover the cost of these. If we do not receive enough money then the events will have to be cancelled.

If you have any information you wish to discuss or any questions, please don’t hesitate to pop in and have a chat, or write a note in your child’s homework book. If you would like to come to help out in class please come and let me know.

Many thanks/Diolch yn fawr

Mrs Barrow
