Welcome to our S. T. F. page

At Bishopston Primary School we are lucky to have two Specialist Teaching Facilities (STFs). The Infant/Foundation Phase STF is run by Mrs Gray and Mrs Jones and the Junior/Key Stage 2 STF by Mrs Bennett

Our Specialist Teaching Facilities are here to provide help for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Alongside school staff, we have a Speech and Language Therapist Mrs Vivian who comes in on Mondays.

We are an inclusive school, the children follow the same topics as other children of the same age. They spend some time during each week in their mainstream classes.

There is an association for children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) in Wales known as Afasic Cymru. They have lots of information and ideas for supporting your child and can be contacted at www.afasiccymru.org.uk

I CAN is also a charity working for children with speech and language difficulties, which can be contacted at www.ican.org.uk

If your child has autism, you can recieve information and advice from the National Autistic Society at www.autism.org.uk

Children in the STF complete work appropriate to their needs. They follow the same topic headings as other children in their year group.

The Junior/Key Stage 2 Department work on a 4 year cycle of topics, which allows all children to work on the same theme within the STF and their mainstream classes.

The Infant/Foundation Phase Department work on 2 year cycles. The Lower Foundation phase – Nursery and Reception plan work on the same topics.

Years 1 and 2 form the Upper Foundation Phase and they plan their work together on a cycle of 6 topics over 2 years.
