The Management Team
I'm Mr Owen, the Headteacher of the school. We do our utmost here to make the motto come alive "to care for one another and be the best that we can be". We aspire to ensure values of kindness, generosity, etc are a real part of the school community. As a result, for staff and children school is great fun - most of the time! It's a place where we all put in a shift to do a good day's work, but we're able to have a giggle as we go.
Hello! My name is Mrs Beynon and I am the Deputy Headteacher of the school. I am very excited to teach Year 3/4 this year! I have taught at Bishopston for 4 years, I feel incredibly lucky to work in such a lovely school with beautiful grounds for lots of outdoor learning. I always aim for my classroom to be a fun, welcoming place to be where no one is afraid to make a ‘marvellous’ mistake as part of their learning journey.
Hello! My name is Mrs Ellis and I have just made a very exciting move from Reception to Year 1/2 this September! I have taught in Bishopston for almost 10 years now and 5 years ago, I took over the role of Foundation Phase leader. Foundation Education is the area that I am most passionate about. I believe in allowing children to develop through exploration and I always strive to create fun, hands on practical activities so that children will enjoy their learning and experience success.
Foundation Phase Teachers
Hi! My name is Mrs. Thomas and I teach Reception. I attended Bishopston Primary as a child and still live locally with my two children. We have lots of pets – three dogs called Noni, Mabel Grace and Bessie; two lizards called Toothless and Sticky and a tortoise called Bamps. My hobbies are running, swimming and cycling – anything outdoorsy really. I have a campervan and love to travel too – I’m really interested in different languages and cultures.
I'm Mrs Brewer, I was born and brought up in Yorkshire and came to study at Swansea University. I have since made my home here and love the Gower! I have a daughter and lots of pets! I love running, yoga and horse riding and try to swim in the sea every day of the year! I have been teaching for many years and at Bishopston Primary for most of my teaching career - mostly in Year groups 1, 2 and 3. I love teaching and I am still full of enthusiasm and passion for the job! I feel lucky to teach in such a lovely school and community.
Hello! I’m Mrs Gorvett, I am one of the Year 1&2 teachers and share my job with the wonderful Mrs Brewer. I am passionate about teaching all areas of the curriculum particularly Literacy, Forest School, Art, Outdoor Learning and PE, I am crazy about all sports! I always love to see the children in my class happy and smiling and always remind them that each and everyone of them are special and unique.
Croeso, My name is Mrs Barrow and I am one of the year 1/ 2 Land Phase teachers. This is my second year at Bishopston Primary school and I absolutely love everything about it. We have the best location, resources, teaching staff and of course the children! I am passionate about teaching and promoting the wonderful Welsh language within our school and wider community. I believe that learning should be fun and exciting and that we should use the outdoors at every opportunity.
Key Stage 2 Teachers
Shwmae! I’m Mr. Evans and I am so pleased to be your year 3/4 teacher and I can’t wait to get to know you. I enjoy planning fun and exciting lessons and I love all sports especially football! I am really looking forward to this year – I’m sure it’s going to be great!
My name is Mrs Carman and I am so excited to be part of the Mountain Phase team!
I am married to my wonderful husband Dan; we have three energetic, sports loving children and two crazy cats. I have lived in Swansea most of my life and taught both Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2, spending 5 years teaching Year 3.
In my spare time I love being outdoors; playing golf, walking, yoga and sea dipping. When I’m not outdoors I love cooking, reading and spending quality time with my family.
It is my goal to help your children become confident, capable, creative and informed learners. I will do my utmost to help make this year a positive experience for your child.
Hello! I’m Mrs Cowling, but some of you may have older brothers or sisters who knew me as Miss Leentfaar. I have taught in Bishopston Primary school for over 11 years, but took maternity leave last year and also got married! I lead maths in the school, run the Rights committee and provide the dance club. I am really looking forward to teaching year 3/4 this year; being creative, exploring outdoors and tackling challenges!
My name is Mrs Griffiths (A.K.A. Mrs G) and I normally teach at the top of KS2. I love learning through fun, games, expressive arts, and embrace outdoor learning opportunities whenever possible. I have high expectations within our school community, and I try to be a good role model living up to our school motto 'To care for one another, and be the BEST that you can be!'.
