At Bishopston Primary School we are lucky to have two Specialist Teaching Facilities (STFs). The Infant/Foundation Phase STF is managed by Mrs Gray and Mrs Jones and the Junior/Key Stage 2 STF by Mrs Bennett.

Our Specialist Teaching Facilities are here to provide help for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) & Developmental Language Disorder (DLD).

Alongside school staff, we have a Speech and Language Therapist who comes in weekly to support the pupils according to their awarded provision on their  ALN statements/IDPs.

We are an inclusive school, the children follow the same topic as other children of the same age. They spend some time during each week, as appropriate to their individual needs, in their mainstream classes.

There is an association for children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) known as Afasic UK. They have lots of information and ideas for supporting your child and can be contacted at www.afasic.org.uk

I CAN is also a charity working for children with speech and language difficulties, which can be contacted at www.ican.org.uk

Planning

Pupils throughout the whole school learn new skills through the same topic.  This allows all children to work on the same theme within the STF and their mainstream classes.  Children in the STF complete work tailored to their needs.
